LOST Season 5 Production Design - The Incident

As I have mentioned in previous posts,
I purchased several of the Season 5 production
design and artwork pieces from the
individual who purchased Lot #914
in the LOST auction.

Each came with a copy of the original
Certificate of Authenticity.
Production Design - The Incident

 Closeup - "Juliet Falls"

Closeup - "Truss Breaks" after "J" falls.
There are notations for camera placements.

I am a puddle of tears.)

LOST Limited Edition Artist Print by Matt Busch

I came across this FANTASTIC print
during one of my daily searches on eBay for
LOST treasures.

Matt Busch is the artist.  I did a Google search
to determine if he had a website or online store
as I'd rather purchase directly from the artist
rather than some random goof.

I found his store and emailed him,
requesting that he sign the print.
And he did! (just above "LOST")
The print currently hangs in my office.

LOST by Matt Busch is still available in his store:

Pierre Chang Custom Autograph Card

The seventh and final card
in the set features Pierre Chang
in all his Dharma Initiative glory.

I wonder how many labcoats have been
customized since"Marvin Candle's"
appearance in the Orientation Tape seen
in Season 2? I am guilty......
Pierre Chang had almost as many aliases
as Kate Austen!

Francois Chau signed the card.

Man in Black Custom Autograph Card

The sixth card in the set of
custom autograph cards that I won
is Man In Black/Smoke Monster.

The image on the card is split,
with photos of both personas.

Titus Welliver signed the card.

Leslie Arzt Custom Autograph Card

I won a set of seven custom autograph cards in
an auction raising money for
The Ending Cancer in Our Generation Foundation
as mentioned in previous posts.

The fifth card in the set is
signed by Daniel Roebuck.

Now I Can Make My Own Kind of Music!

.....if I knew how to play the guitar.

This set of four Dharma guitar picks
was a gift from my son.

They glow in the dark!

Blast Door Map

OMG! I really own this!
I cannot describe how thrilled I was to win
one of the Blast Door Maps
offered the the Cancer Gets LOST auction!!!

The closeup photos are from the Cancer Gets LOST
auction listing because
1. I am crappy photographer and
these photos are better than any I could take.
2. My framer picked up the map within an hour of it
being delivered, so I forgot to take closeup pics.
 My enthusiasm has it's disadvantages...

(photo used with the permission of Cancer Gets LOST)

The map was created, donated and signed by Zack Grobler,
the production designer of LOST. You can read more about him here:

The map was designed in collaboration with the
writers of LOST.  An interesting fact was revealed
during the Cancer Gets LOST webcast:
the physics equations on the map are accurate
and contributed by Zack's wife, Kristina.

The print includes both the
original Swan Hatch Blast Door Map
concept sketch inset in upper right hand corner....
(photo used with the permission of Cancer Gets LOST)

.....and the final rendering.
(photo used with the permission of Cancer Gets LOST)

The map is numbered, signed by Zack Grobler, and
dated in the lower right hand corner.
My print is #5/5.
(photo used with the permission of Cancer Gets LOST)

My framer, Henry Franks is AWESOME.
He returned the framed Blast Door Map
to me the next day!

The Blast Door Map
now hangs adjacent to Kevin Tong's
"The Hatch" in my LOST room.

I am so honored and proud
to include The Blast Door Map
in my LOST collection.

Season 5 Design Plans - Widmore's Office

I purchased several of the LOST Season 5
production and design plans from the individual
who purchased LOT #914 in the LOST Auction.
There were over 280 pieces in the lot.
A copy of the original Certificate of Authenticity
was included with each of the design
pages I bought.

One of the production design sheets I purchased
was the plan for Charles Widmore's office
in the Season 5 episode "Jughead".

Plans:

Note: the design itself is drawn on a sheet
of thin tissue-like paper
and taped on the corners to a
large sheet of white paper.

on screen realization:

(Desmond! YAY!)

LOST Raft

I can honestly say that I never imagined
that my collection would include an actual LOST raft!

I purchased the 2-person raft in an eBay auction.
The seller won it in a promotional giveaway by abc.
It was kept packed away until it was offered
in the eBay listing.

I haven't inflated it as yet since I'm really
not sure where or how to display it.
But the best guess is that I will eventually
suspend it from the ceiling in my LOST room.

It is seriously AWESOME!

A John Locke card was included in the set
of seven custom autograph cards
that I won in an auction supporting
The Ending Cancer in Our Generation Foundation.

Carlton Cuse Custom Autograph Card

As noted in the previous post, I won a set
of seven custom autographed cards in an
auction raising money for
The Ending Cancer in Our Generation Foundation.

Carlton Cuse signed one of the cards.

It is a double dose of awesome to add fantastic
items to my LOST collection AND
contribute to a worthy cause.

Ben Linus Custom Autograph Cards

I bid on and won a set of seven custom LOST
autographed cards in an auction raising money for
The Ending Cancer in Our Generation Foundation.

Two of the cards in the set are Ben Linus and are
signed by Sterling Beaumon and Michael. Emerson.

The cards measure 4" x 6" with custom
LOST bamboo borders and feature both
The Numbers and the Oceanic Airlines logo.

LOST Text Adventure Tshirt by zort70

zort70/Ian Knight designed another recent
addition to my LOST TShirt wardrobe.

The shirt is done in a retro computer text
style, before existence of computer graphics.

VERY cool.

Autographed Season 6 DVD - signed by Damon Lindelof

I was totally surprised and dumbfounded
to receive this Season 6 DVD signed
by Damon Lindelof.

It arrived from Cancer Gets LOST
in the same package as the Season 3 Soundtrack.
(signed by Michael Giacchino from previous post)

I contacted Jo Garfein to thank her
and was told that it was a thank you
for my donations to the auction.
AWESOME DHARMA KARMA!

Autographed Season 3 Soundtrack - signed by Michael Giacchino

The title pretty much says it all....
EXCEPT FOR HOW FRIGGIN' AWESOME
it is to have this in my collection!

I bid on and won the LOST Season 3 Soundtrack
donated by and SIGNED by
Michael Giacchino
in the Cancer Gets LOST auction.
(screencap used with the permission of Cancer Gets LOST)

I already own all of the LOST Soundtracks
and play them regularly,
but this CD will be displayed in a place of honor.

Really, I bought it for the article....

Really I did.
I am not a usual purchaser or reader of Playboy
but was compelled to buy the May 2010 issue
for the Matthew Fox interview.

There are many surprising revelations in this very
candid interview. It is one of the most revealing interviews
with Matthew Fox that I have ever read.

I scanned each of the pages below.
I did search for the entire interview online,
but could only find excerpts.
You can click on each picture to enlarge it for easier reading.

Note: You might have to download each page and
enlarge in your photo viewing program to get readable sizing..

Apollo Bar & Grill Tshirt by zort70

zort70/Ian Knight is a friend AND
a designer of awesome Tshirts.

He created the Apollo Bar & Grill
shirt as part of the fund raising efforts for
Cancer Gets LOST.

I actually purchased two of the shirts with
the intention of making one into a pillow
for my LOST room.

Zort70 has created many fantastic
LOST themed shirts & merchandise
that can be purchased in his
CafePress & RedBubble stores:

"When did I do that? Why did I scratch you?" by drMikey

I recently participated in the
Cancer Gets LOST Auction.
One of the items that I bid on and won
is this custom painting
by drMikey aka Mike Stanton.
The painting is titled
"When did I do that? Why did I scratch you?"
and features Claire.
(screencap used with the permission of Cancer Gets LOST)

The painting is numbered #4/5
and measures 16" x 20".
It came with a Certificate of Authenticity.
This is the seventh painting of
drMikey's
"Harmonic Resonance Project"
that I am fortunate enough to own.
The other six paintings include Jin & Sun,
Jack, Sawyer, Boone & Shannon.

The image is also included in
"I Will Always Be LOST,
I Will Never Be LOST Again".

The painting of Claire is currently
hanging in my office. She has been
reunited with her half-brother.

An Anniversary - of sorts anyway

Tomorrow marks the three year anniversary
of my first post on this blog.
But, except for two posts requesting LOSTie involvement
for Cancer Gets LOST,
I haven't posted anything for almost a year.

The past twelve months presented me
with several extreme challenges
and the loss of loved ones.
I was ill-equipped to deal with most of it
so denial and isolation
became my closest companions.
And LOST.
Always LOST.
Time and perspective have eased the grief and despair
so - I'm back.

My collection is ever expanding
and I continue to surround myself at home and at work
with LOST art and memorabilia.
I will be sharing the new additions to my collection
in the coming weeks and months.
There are some awesome additions!!!

Note:
I only just discovered that a lot
of LOSTies have visited both this blog
I was updating earlier posts and
saw on Google overview that there
have been over 93,000 page views
combined between both blogs.
JUST WOW!

Even if it was only one person visiting 93,000
times, I am grateful that someone was
interested in my version of Show and Tell.
Thanks. :)

LOST Art - "I Remember" and "It Worked"

A few copies of these AMAZING prints by Jason Shorr,
commissioned especially for the Cancer Gets LOST event
are still available!
They are both a limited edition of 23 and are $42 each.
Contact Jared Wong at cancergetslost@gmail.com
if you would like to purchase.  The money will go to defraying the
massive auction shipping costs that Jo & Jared
paid out of their own pockets.
(Shipping totaled over $5K - insane that such amazing
and generous people had to shoulder that sort of expense.
See my previous post if you'd like to
contribute without purchasing the prints.)

The prints, "It Worked" and "I Remember" are stunning
and will be a fantastic addition to any LOST fan's collection.
Both prints measure 13" x 19".
I can't wait for mine to arrive...
it's like being a two year old waiting for Santa.
I requested #4/23 of both prints.

Jared also designed an awesome poster for Cancer Gets LOST.

"Jacob Loves You" is numbered and signed
by Jared.
Copies are still available!!!
(Yep, I reserved #4 of this one too!)
Contact Jared if you'd like to add Jacob Loves You
to your collection as well.

Charity Begins...and ends...with LOSTies

I want to congratulate the forces behind Cancer Gets LOST,
Jo Garfein and Jared Wong.
They have worked tirelessly and selflessly, sacrificing time,
effort and considerable personal financial expense
to raise money for the National Brain Tumor Society
through the Cancer Gets LOST webcast, event in Los Angeles and auction.

I am proud to have been both an auction contributor
and winning bidder on several fantastic items.

But I am also concerned.
I read a post of the Cancer Gets LOST site yesterday.
I learned that the shipping budget Jo and Jared earmarked
for the shipping inclusive items will be dedicated instead to
paying the performance fee to the site hosting the auction.
100% of the money raised goes to the National Brain Tumor Society.

It is fantastic and amazing that the auction raised 4 -5 times
the amount expected. But I cannot stand by knowing that
Jo and Jared's generosity will end up costing them even more financially.
So I am asking those of us who won shipping inclusive items
to donate at least a part of the shipping expense to a Paypal
account I set up yesterday for Jo and Jared.
They are the only people with access to the account.

This is completely voluntary. It was my idea.
And I had to cajole, wheedle and whine to get permission
to use the email address and set up account.
Jo and Jared would never consider
asking you to help defray the shipping costs. But I know how
generous and caring LOSTies are and know you will
want to help. PLEASE donate what you can.
Consider the size and shape of the auction items you won and
contribute accordingly.
An item that will fit in a flat rate USPS envelope
costs $5.25 to mail and so on.

The Paypal email address associated with the fund is
jared@cancergetslost.org.

Please select the "gift to family/friends" option for sending
money to avoid a Paypal fee being debited from the account.

I would appreciate as many tweets, Facebook posts, link-backs
as possible to get the word out.  Jo and Jared will begin shipping
the auction items within the next few weeks and it would
be wonderful if they didn't have to dip into their own wallets
to cover the expense.

Thank you and Namaste.
